SG 1-Day Tour
July 3, 2005Was just planning to get Kelly’s presents and go home after that. But things don’t usually go as planned. The 3 of us (fungus, ah ma and me) spent the whole day going to the places of interest of Singapore.
First Stop, Bugis Street: We’d spent almost 2 hours walking around Bugis street and fungus and ah ma managed to buy 2 sunglasses and 3 pairs of earrings.
Second Stop, Raffles City: Once we’ve finished our shopping at Bugis street, we went to Raffles City as our dear ah ma need to get some stockings at Robinsons. When we’re at Raffles City, we’re all surprised by the number of police stationed around, and inside, Raffles City. So why are there so many police? Because the IOC (International Olympic Committee) are holding their week long meeting at Raffels City. The most important event of the week long meeting is the announcement of the host city of the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Third Stop, Singapore Civil Defence Gallery: Spent about half an hour inside this place. The Civil Defence Gallery actually showcases some of the oldest Fire engines in Singapore and some of the worst fire that had occured here.
Fourth Stop, Chinatown: Another hour was used to look for Kelly’s presents and in the end, we managed to get a Shawl for her.
Fifth Stop, Far East Square: Bought the last item for Kelly, which is a “Voice Recordable soft toy”. After that we spend another hour drinking Teh-Tarik, finding a very deserted place so that we can record our Birthday song in the soft toy.
Sixth Stop, Raffles Place: Actually, we just saw this really modern and sleek building and decided to spend some time taking pictures of this place. Fungus and ah ma posing by the lift lobby, with a 50 inch Plasma TV and a small tree, that makes us look like some country bumpkins.
Seventh Stop: Clarke Quay: Was planning to take the Riverside boat to the Esplanade but the $12 ticket stopped us from doing so. In the end, we sat on the Cavenagh Bridge to enjoy the sea breeze and sunset.
Eigth Stop, Esplanade: Loitered around Esplanade for about 20 minutes before going back to Raffles City.
Ninth Stop, Raffles City: Was trying our luck to catch a glmipse of David Beckham as he’s coming to Singapore to support the London Olympics bid. However, he is still not in Singapore yesterday.
Last Stop, Bugis Street: We went back to Bugis Street because our dear ah ma wanted to get her high heel shoes.
At the end of the day, we’re dead tired! As we’d spent the whole day walking to so many places…
